Seborrheic Keratosis Herbal Treatment

Seborrheic keratosis is a non-malignant and non-cancerous skin condition that is characterized by scab like lesions on the skin. This condition is considered to be a normal degenerative skin condition because it affects individuals in old age. This is the main reason the condition is referred to as old age barnacles. At the onset of the condition, the lesions appear as round or oval brown spots. As the condition progresses the spots slightly expand and thicken and acquire a rough texture.

The scab like wart then darkens and may turn completely black. These growths are somewhat similar to growths associated with melanoma a form of skin cancer. In order to correctly diagnose the condition a skin biopsy is necessary. It involves cutting a piece of the skin with the growth which is then analyzed for signs of cancerous cells. Not to be confused with seborrheic dermatitis, the brown lesions associated with seborrheic keratosis are not limited to the scalp, face, back and chest. The lesions are also found on the legs and abdomen. A variant of the condition is characterized by brown spots found only on parts of the body exposed to the sun. This variant is referred to as solar lentigines. Stucco keratosis is characterized by numerous lesions on the lower legs and feet.
