Seborrheic keratosis is also known as seborrheic verruca and is a skin condition that is not cancerous and don’t represent any danger for our health. Seborrheic keratosis is oftenly observed on older people, but that is not a rule. There are people with 20 years for example that are affected of seborrheic keratoses. The round or oval shaped spots appear in different colours from black to light tan and may be flat or a bit elevated with varying sizes ( 0.3 – 2.5 centimeters). What are the causes of seborrheic kreatoses?
Well, we don’t know. The doctors don’t know yet what is the main cause of seborrheic keratoses but they suspect that here is a hereditary factor, because the majority of seborrheic keratoses suffers have people with this condition in family. They also tell us that the sun can influence the apparence of seborrheic keratoses but that isn’t proved.
Another thing that you should know is that seborrheic keratoses have nothing to do with cancer. A lot of people get scarred when they see the seborrheic growths on their skin and they think that is a form of cancer or that this will transform in cancer. No, seborrheic keratoses is a harmless skin condition. The single reason that should make you worried is the aesthetic one. What symptoms does seborrheic keratoses have?
Well, the most evident symptom of seborrheic keratoses is the occurentce of seborrheic keratoses growths on the skin surface wich may later change its color. It grows with either a raised, warty or circular and may appear as to be glued on the skin. This may be followed by an itching sensation wich may triger scratching. If you will scracth the seborrheic keratoses growths you may get some inflmations and bleeding, so please don’t scratch it.

Since seborrheic keratoses is not cancerous and don’t cause any health complcation as I saied the single reason to do treat it is the aesthetic one. The seborrheic keratoses can stay on your skin for a lifetime so if you have them on your face, neck or hands, I guess that you won’t like to have them permanent. You have a few removal options for seborrheic keratoses removal and I adivce you to chose the best for you with your dermatologist. The best removal procedure depend by: the size of your growths and the place where they are situated. So you may remove them with:
- Hydrogen peroxide
- Laser surgery
